Greensboro’s Duncan and Dixon win USA South honors..

Danielle Duncan (Greensboro, NC/Ragsdale) and Damian Dixon (Tampa, FL/Wharton) of Greensboro College have earned weekly conference awards, the conference announced today. Duncan is Women’s Basketball Player of the Week and Dixon the Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week.

Duncan, a junior forward/center, averaged a double-double of 16.7 points and 14.3 rebounds for the 13th ranked Pride. She helped 13th-ranked GC team compile a 4-0 record last week. In a 64-47 win over USA South foe Averett, Duncan contributed eight points, eight rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block. In a 72-54 victory over USA South rival Meredith, Duncan did not play. In a 76-63 win over USA South foe Ferrum, Duncan tallied a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Finally, in a 67-49 win over Piedmont, Duncan notched her second double-double of the week with 28 points and 24 rebounds. She also added five blocks, three steals and one assist in the victory.

Dixon, a freshman guard, averaged 22.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 1.6 assists in a 2-1 week for The Pride. In a 77-69 win over USA South rival Averett, Dixon contributed a career-high 25 points to go along with six rebounds, six steals and two assists. In a 106-104, triple-overtime, win over Emory & Henry, Dixon tallied his first career double-double as he scored 20 points and grabbed ten rebounds. He also added three assists and two steals in the victory. Finally, in a 78-67, double-overtime, loss to USA South foe Ferrum, Dixon totaled 21 points, five rebounds and one steal.
