Slow start, but Eastern Guilford’s girls move over McMichael 51-40….

Eastern Guilford got off to a slow start in the opeing period and then went on a
run to defeat McMichael 51-40 in a conference final game. Eastern was able to
let every player play significant minutes in the win. Michael got off to an
early 10-5 first period lead until Eastern rallied and scored 27 point in the
second period to take a 32-19 half time lead. Eastern was able to take control
of the game when Senior Miranda Jenkins scored 14 first half points and
Sophomore Erica Olerich’s 8 points. Freshmen Carryl Alston continues to impress
with 7 rebounds and 5 points in the paint. Sophomore Autumn Rumley came off the
bench to score 6 points to help ignite the Wildcats. Eastern wraps up its
regular season on “Senior Night” Thursday against powerhouse Southeast Guilford
(17-5 and 9-3 in conference play) from the powerful Metro 4A Conference which
features Dudley, Page, Smith, Western Guilford, Southern Alamance and Grimsley.
Eastern improved to 18-5 and 11-3 in conference play.
