Last time when they met, Parkland’s Miles Bowman had 51 points and this time he only hit for 39, but SWG’s Jordan Hanner had 31, Terrell Leach lit it up for 22 and Andrew Bostic pumped in 21 for the Cowboys……

Courtresy of Greg Vlazny from Southwest Guilford:

The first time these teams met it was senior night and went into overtime. The
second time around? Why not! It was another back and forth dog fight that went to
overtime on senior night. The first 12 minutes of the game the Cowboys came out
strong trying to avenge their only conference loss by going up by 15 points. But
after midway through the 2nd quarter the Mustangs used a strong finish to bring the
game and crowd back, 43-39. Then the 3rd quarter went back and forth again but this
time the Mustangs got the momentum and took the lead into the 4th at 67-66. Once
again the fourth quarter literally went basket for basket, huge 3 for huge 3.
Southwest held a 3 point lead with 8.9 seconds left and had the ball underneath
their basket. On the inbounds the Cowboy player caught the pass and landed
awkwardly and attempted a pass that got picked off by Parkland. The Mustangs
brought the ball down court and was able to hit a huge 3 with 2 seconds left. The
half court heave was of the mark and to overtime they went. In the extra frame both
teams started with a basket. Then Southwest
took a 93-92 lead with a freethrow. From their the teams traded the lead 3 times.
Until Jordan Hanner’s 3 pointer made the lead 98-96 with about 2 mintues to play.
The Mustangs came back with a bucket on their next possession to tie the game at 98.
On the Cowboys next possession a costly turnover gave the ball and a fast break
layup to the hosts for a 100-98 lead with under a minute to play. The cowboys used a
timeout with roughly 30 seconds left, and on the inbounds Jordan Hanner was fouled.
He calmly hit both free throws to tie the game at the century mark. After a Parkland
timeout the Mustangs brought the ball up and Southwest’s Stevie Williams played
great defense and came away with a steal and was fouled driving down the court
injuring his knee. Jordan Hanner was substituted back into the game and once again
hit both tremendous freebies to make it 102-100. Parkland got a decent look at the
basket but the shot was not true and Southwest got the rebound at the buzzer. The
Cowboys prevailed and finishes the conference season at 11-1. The Mustangs were lead
by Miles Bowman Jr., and Antonio Robinson with 39 and 25 apiece. The Cowboys were
headed by Jordan Hanner, Terrell Leach, and Andrew Bostic with 31, 22, and 21
respectively.
