Army’s Clint Moore(Grimsley HS) starts season with a three-run HR, but Cadets fall to Radford(Moore needs just 13 RBI’s to become Army all-time leader)

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Army senior shortstop Clint Moore went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run, but it was Radford taking a 7-4 decision from the Black Knights in the season-opening contest for both squads Friday afternoon at Wilson Field on the campus of Davidson College.

Junior second baseman Zach Price went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored for the Black Knights. Army managed just five hits against Radford pitching in the contest. The Highlanders, meanwhile, banged out 15 hits en route to their first season-opening victory since 2002.

Army was down, but rallied to tie the score at 4-4 after Moore’s sixth-inning blast.

After being held without a hit over the first five innings, the Black Knights came all the way back in the sixth inning as Moore smacked his 25th career home run with two men aboard to tie the score at 4-4. Price began the rally with a one-out infield single. Senior third baseman Steve May followed with a single to right ahead of Moore, who drilled his first homer of the season over the fence in right field.

Army returns to action on Saturday(TODAY), when the Black Knights take on Davidson and Radford in a split-doubleheader. The Army-Davidson game is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m., with the Army-Radford rematch slated for 7 p.m.
