In the first round of the State Playoffs, the Cowboys of Southwest played host to
the Demons of RJ Reynolds. The game started out slow with each team struggling to
find a groove. The Cowboys started to click and got up 12-5, but the Demons fought
back with an 8-2 run to close the first quarter down 14-13. The 2nd quarter was a
back and forth battle as the lead changed 8 straight possessions until Southwest got
up with a 6-0 run to get a small cushion at 26-21. The Cowboys were able to finish
the half with a 30-23 lead. The second half had the hosting Cowboys push the lead
out to 44-30. But a quick four point spurt ended the third at 44-34. The fourth
quarter started with a run by the Cowboys to push it out to 51-36. From there the
Cowboys used solid defense and held strong for a 62-49 victory. Reynolds was lead by
Kerry Campbell, Johnathan Brown with 8 points apiece. Southwest was lead by Andrew
Bostic and Terrell Leach with 16 and 10 points respectively. Southwest moves on to
play Grimsley on Wednesday night.
