NEW LONDON, N.C. – Tournament host Pfeiffer University captured the
eight-team Old North State Invitational Tuesday at the Old North State Club.
The Falcons entered Tuesday’s second and final round with a 14-stroke lead,
which helped them withstand Guilford College’s rally. Pfeiffer shot
307-315-622 for a seven-shot win over the Quakers (321-308-629).

Guilford’s, NCAA Division III’s top-ranked team and the field’s lone
Division III squad, carded Tuesday’s low team score. Sophomore Noah Ratner
led the charge with a one-over-par 73, which helped him rise from 14th to
second in the 55-man field with a 36-hole 152.

Playing as an individual, High Point University’s Curtis Brotherton claimed
medalist honors with scores of 76-72-148.
First-round leader Tyson Louth, of
Pfieffer’s ‘B’ team, shot 79 Tuesday and finished tied with Ratner at 152.
Jonathan Miles had the best score the Falcons’ ‘A’ team (78-75-153) and
claimed fourth place.

Guilford’s Mat Hennick turned in a sixth-place finish (80-75-155) after
shooting the field’s third-lowest round Tuesday. Teammate J.T. Thomas,
playing as an individual, was 10th at 79-78-157.

The Quakers play in the Pine Needles Intercollegiate Feb. 28-Mar. 1 in
Southern Pines, N.C.
