FERRUM, Va. – Travis Crump had three hits and three RBI in Ferrum College’s 13-5 nonconference baseball win over visiting Guilford Tuesday.
Crump had a two-run double in the first inning and a run-scoring single in
the fourth, which helped the Panthers (5-3) open a 9-2 lead. Paul
Jaglowski’s three-run homer in the seventh capped Ferrum’s scoring.
Panthers’ starter Caleb Dorton (2-0) yielded three earned runs in seven
innings and did not walk a batter. Batting cleanup, he helped himself at the
plate with two hits, including a two-run single in Ferrum’s five-run second.
He also scored three times.
Guilford catcher Will Cornelius (Summerfield, N.C./Northwest Guilford)
shared game-high honors with three hits, including a double. Teammate Derek Hardison had two hits, including his first homer of the season, a solo shot to lead off the sixth inning.
Guilford (3-7) opens Old Dominion Athletic Conference play Saturday (2/26)
at Lynchburg College.
