  1. Grimsley boys played their hearts out tonight and left it all on the floor. Got down early and clawed back into the game several times. The Whirlies had 2 possessions at the end of the game and couldn’t get the ball to fall. Coach Corbett did a tremendous job with end of game substitutions and clock management

    Good season boys

  2. That is pretty big, a big win for the Mount Tabor Spartans….Coach Andy Muse has done it again…..His dad Tom and brother Mike had to be not far behind that bench….The Muses are a piece of work and it is sort of like a Mucosso/Picaso….They have done it again…..Now will they meet Reagan again and will they beat Howard West and Reagan again?????

Will SWG girls have to play Butler in Round One of the West Regionals???

  3. Now that the season is over – the question is who will leave the public schools and transfer to the private schools for next year. Last year we saw 3 guys transfer from both Grimsley and Dudley to private schools. We also saw many kids never make it to the public high schools by going from the public 8th grade directly to a private school.

Andy – who are the players going or “rumored” to be heading to a private school ? The trend seems to be for the high level players to head to these private school. We are also losing a lot of talent via graduation. The public school rosters will look very weak next year for both the boys and girls. Who will be left to play for the girls at Dudley or Eastern Guilford ? What if Reggis leaves Dudley ?

  4. It is also about time that River Mill and the Bishop McGuinness got together……Let’s Get it Starrrrrted……Lady Jaguars with only one loss all year long……Bishop five-time State Champions?????

  5. HP Andrews won with a wild shot at the buzzer that our Photographer has…Be sure to tune in to check out the highlights at 11:10

  6. The problem is, it is starting to get crowded at the Private Schools…..Playing time is getting harder to come by….How will I get to move ahead of Brandon and Richmond at Wesleyan????? Not going to happen, those two kids are good, real good…..The same thing will be going on at other privates as time and the game moves on…..

Reggie has always told me and my crew that he isn’t going anywhere and I trust him and the Panthers can be really good next year…Were young this year and one year can make a big difference…..If I’m Reggie why not stay? Every game I went to at Dudley, the same ACC Scout was there and he will be back next year….They are not through looking at that kid….

Personally, I think your better off to leave early if you are going to transfer….That is just my opinion, but if you go your first year in high school, you get a chance to learn the new system and run with it for at least four years…..Late jumpers may not get the full benefit out of changing schools and they may have been just as well off and maybe better off, to stay where they were…..

The Spring and Summer will tell the tale, but the comp in the public schools is still good, just look over in Forsyth County….WS Reagan and Mount Tabor are making some big time noise and maybe the Guilford County Schools need to look closer at some of the Forsyth County policies, but right now Guilford County is in the midst of a payback program and the GCS is going out of their way to make sure all the right procedures are followed and they will go out of their way to make it very tough on the Athletic Programs for at least a few more years….

The Blueprint is what Darren Corbett did at Grimsley this year…You lose four starters off of last year’s team and then you lose three players to grade difficulties and another key player to injury and you still make it to the Sectional Finals….

Coach Corbett ought to be able to write a book on this season call it “The Blueprint”…..Kind of like the Grimsley Blue and White Blueprint….Coach Corbett did wonders with that program this year…..Four players(starters) lost in the off season and then you lose four more going into the conference tournament and you still contend for the Sectional Championship……

It can be done and maybe Coach Corbett ought to be our next Guilford County AD…..

Why not stick around at your current school and see what you and your team can do, when you dedicate yourself to hard work and giving it your all….

Easier said than done….But we saw first-hand this year that it can be done and Coach Corbett proved you can be successful if you stick to and work with what you have……

  7. I’m headed that way to check out HPA…Almost time for some “Nothing But Net” and a hot dog…..11:10 on WFMY TV 2 and Channel 9 on TWC….

  8. What a job done by the whirlies taking one of the top teams in the state to the last few possesions, Mr. Darren Corbett is one hell of a coach no matter what anyone says, to do what he did this year and has done the last five years is just amazing

  9. I must say Coach Corbett did a great job at Grimsley this year and I look forward to my son playing for him for the next 3-4 years. If all of the guys from Kiser come over to Grimsley next season Coach Corbett will have a really good team in the future. I was at the Grimsley/Reagan game last night and I must say that was a great game even though Grimsley lost, those guys played thier hearts out and left it all out on the floor. I wish Jake Mulvey the best in where ever he goes to college and I would like to congratulate him and his team mates on a great season. Well done Whirlies!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Reggie Dillard is taking care of business in the classroom FIRST and so are the girls so they have no reason to transfer. They don’t need to ‘re-class’, LOL! They are getting plenty of attention from great collegiate programs and by choosing to pass on the Little Four tournament they are being exposed to some of the best basketball around the nation so they would not really ‘gain’ much if anything. 25-2 for the ladies and a down year for the guys but we will back!

  11. such a joke that they have the highest scholarship awards in guilford county!!! U are funny speak what u know..

  12. To addict:

Dudley has sent several kids on to such places as Princeton, The Naval Academy, The Air Force Academy, Cornell, MIT, UNC, Clemson, NC State, Wake Forest and footballer Jeremy Reynolds is already enrolled in classes down at Texas Tech. The kids that have come through Dudley and TAKE THEIR EDUCATION SERIOUSLY are the ones that are awarded these great opportunities and if they can do it then there’s no reason why the other kids can’t either.

  13. @ Mr. Addict

Don’t bring that NEGATIVE STEROTYPE MESS on this board by trying to imply that THE DUDLEY STUDENT/ ATHLETES are not going to College. I was at SENIOR NIGHT at DUDLEY when they played PAGE H.S., ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO. Almost every child that was Seniors had a 3.3 or HIGHER { EVERYONE FROM BALLPLAYERS (WOMEN OR MEN) TO THE CHEERLEADERS WERE HEADING TO COLLEGE. WAKE FOREST, EAST CAROLINA, PRINCETON, UNC- CHARLOTTE, WINSTON SALEM STATE, N.C. STATE, MOREHOUSE, UNC -GREENSBORO, N.C.A.T. and OTHER SCHOOLS OF HIGHER LEARNING WAS NAMED. If you TAKE THE TIME TO LOOK UP TO LOOK UP FORMER PLAYERS THAT HAVE CAME OUT OF DUDLEY, YOU WILL SEE THEY HAVE A PROUD LIST OF MEN & WOMEN THAT WENT ON TO HAVE GREAT SUCCESS IN ACADEMICS IN COLLEGE. FROM UC-SANTA BARABARA to FLORIDA ST. to TEXAS TECH to MIT, THE AIR FORCE ACADEMY and UNIV. of CINCINNATI.

I have seen this for YEARS at DUDLEY, So don’t get on this board and make it like DUDLEY H.S. isn’t a Serious about HIGHER LEARNING.
