Greensboro, N.C. — Danielle Duncan (Greensboro, NC/Ragsdale) scored 22 points to lead Greensboro College to a 69-40 USA South semifinal win on Friday night. The Pride now hosts CNU in the USA South final at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
GC improved to 26-1 and MU ends its year at 15-12.
Duncan was 7-14 from the field, made 8-10 free throws and had nine rebounds. Teammates Chevena Pickard (Greensboro, NC/Page) and Bianca Richburg (Hillsborough, NC/Orange County) added 12 and 11 points respectively.
“We held them to 40 points and no Methodist player scored in double digits, which is a testament to how well we worked on defense,” said Pride Head Coach Randy Tuggle.
Greensboro led at halftime, 37-18. GC’s biggest lead was by 33 points with 5:52 left after Pickard made a three-pointer.
Greensboro forced 30 MU turnovers and collected 22 steals. The home team had just 12 miscues. GC held the Monarchs to 25-percent shooting (14-56). The Pride was 47-percent from the field (23-49).
Way to girls, I see that Greensboro girls are just what you want to see tomorrow Sunday. Vena and Big d are two local ladys that we need to support. When CNU see how much Greensboro backs their Ladys, they will stop and think before they say something about Greensboro
