ASHEVILLE – The Wildcats finally got their state championship title.
Second-seeded Westchester led almost the entire game, building a double-digit lead early in the second quarter, and held off top-seeded Northside Christian 65-58 on Saturday in the NCISAA 2A boys basketball state championship at Asheville School.
“It feels great,†head coach Pat Kahny said. “We went through that tough stretch when Quincy (Miller) got hurt and we were playing all those powerhouses.
