Greensboro College softball gets road win over Birmingham Southern

Birmingham, Ala. –Brittany Parsons (Wilkesboro, NC/West Wilkes) drove in Heather Nellis (Statesville, NC/North Iredell) with a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning as Greensboro College beat Birmingham Southern College, 2-1, on Sunday. The Pride lost to Emory, 4-2, in its early game, and returns home with a 1-3 record.

Parsons and Sarah Bell (Durham, NC/Jordan) both collected two hits in the game. Brittany David (Concord, NC/Northwest) pitched the first four innings, allowed no runs, but got no decision. Freshman Kelsey Sanfilipo hurled the last four frames, struck out five, walked none and earned her first collegiate victory.

Against Emory, which improved to 10-0 on Sunday, GC rallied from a 4-0 deficit to plate two runs. Rebecca Pink (Apex, NC/Apex) and Parsons smacked two hits for The Pride. Hannah Pennell (Statesville, NC/West Iredell) tossed a complete game and took the defeat.

GC next plays Ohio Northern and York (Pa.) in Myrtle Beach this Wednesday.
