Guilford College Quakers out in front at Southern Pines

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. – Guilford College shot Monday’s low score (305) in the
first round of the Pine Needles Intercollegiate at the Pine Needles Resort.
The Quakers hold a three-shot lead over Cape Fear Community College in the
10-team field.

Bridgewater College’s Mike Redwood shot a two-over-par 73 and sits atop the
individual leaderboard. Guilford’s Mat Hennick and Christopher Newport
University’s Chris Olson both shot 75 and share second place. Seven students
are tied in fourth place at 76, including Guilford’s Dusty Roberts
(Reidsville, N.C./Rockingham County) and Cape Fear’s David Donovan and Scott
Novicki.

Guilford is ranked first in the current Golf World/Nike Golf Division III
Coaches’ Poll and the Golfstat.com Division III Head-to-Head Ratings.

The tournament concludes Tuesday with 18 holes.
