Golf News – Guilford Concludes Play at Camp Lejeune

CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. – Guilford College shot 309 in Sunday’s third and final round of the 40th annual Intercollegiate Golf Tournament at the Paradise Point Golf Club aboard Camp Lejeune. The Quakers placed no higher than 12th and no lower than 14th with a three-round score of 884. Full results are not available from the 32-team tournament.

The three-day event is played on two courses with the low 16 teams competing on the par-72 Gold Course Sunday for the tournament title. The remaining 16 teams played the par-70 Scarlet Course for the consolation title.

Cape Fear Community College won the tournament after shooting 297 in Sunday’s cold, windy and rainy conditions. The Sea Devils rallied from a stroke down to top first- and second-round leader Greensboro College, which shot 309 Sunday and placed fourth. Webber International University (858) and the University of South Carolina-Beaufort (860) rounded out the top three.

Mat Hennick shot a one-over-par 73 Sunday, the Quakers’ low score. He finished with a three-day 218 for the tournament. Teammate Noah Ratner had Guilford’s low score for the tournament with a 54-hole total of 213. Other Guilford scores are as follows: Alex Wise (227), J.T. Thomas (228) and Dusty Roberts (229).
