Update on local HS Conference Standings for Baseball

We hope to get an even better update coming your way on Saturday, after all the Friday night conference action is complete….

Most conferences are on their second way through the conference games right now and I was talking with a fan of the leagues today we were just saying that it looks like Glenn is still unbeaten in the Piedmont Triad with East Forsyth probably #2 with two conference losses and it may end up being that SWG, NWG and Ragsdale are all fighting for that fourth and final spot….

Glenn no losses in Conference….East lost to Glenn and NWG….SWG has lost to Glenn twice and now to Ragsdale last night…..Ragsdale has three conference losses and I do believe that NWG has three conference losses….NWG lost to SWG and to Glenn and maybe Ragsdale one time……The crazy thing is that SWG and Ragsdale meet again on Friday and NWG will play HP Central again on Friday, playing host to the Bison…..High Point Central and WS Parkland are petty much on the ropes with only one conference win each and that came last week in a two-game series split…..I would venture this race to be somewhere near 1)Glenn(5-0)…. 2)East Forsyth(4-2)….3)NWG and Ragsdale at (3-3)….5)SWG(2-3) and then HP Central and WS Parkland at say (1-5) or (1-4) each…..

In the Metro we have Southern Alamance and Southeast Guilford with one conference loss each….SEG lost to SA and SA got knocked off by Page…..SEG only has two losses on the season with the one to SA and the other to NEG, by a 4-1 score…..Dudley should be # 3, with conference losses to SEG and SA….Page should be running #4, Grimsley and Western Guilford #5, with both having two conference wins, with Grimsley over Page and Smith and WG over Grimsley and Smith…..Smith is running #7……

NEG has no conference losses and they stand right at (4-0) with wins over Southern Guilford, Asheboro, North Forsyth and SW Randolph…..NEG should run away with that conference…..Piedmont Triad 3-A I think this one is…..

Northern and Eastern are in the middle of the Mid-State wars with both teams having lost ot Western Alamance and EG fell to NG at home(Wildcats home)…..Western Alamance seems to be the team to beat in this conference and NG, EG along with Morehead and Burlington Williams should be in the fight for those remaining playoff spots….And Eastern Alamance might give it shakedown too, but I think McMichael is not making their usual noise this year…..Even Rockingham County might still jump in the middle of this one, if the Cougars can get a couple of wins…..

  1. McMichael is still a threat for their conference…lost to Northern by 1 after a a couple of untimely errors halted a comeback in the 7th…lost to Eastern by 1…trailed 1/2 to rally back 6/2 for it to blow up by a surge of Eastern hitting in the bottom of the 7th. They beat Western Alamance and Williams on the road with large wins over Rockingham and Morehead. Biggest roadblock was Eastern Alamance as they had Nick Monroe on the mound who has some zip behind him and the rest of the team is scrappy. The conference could be a toss up for anyone but don’t count out the Phoenix just yet.
