Track & Field Results – Guilford Throwing Marks Fall on Day 1 of Liberty Collegiate Invitational

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Two Guilford College throwing records fell Friday on the first day of the Liberty Collegiate Invitational. Freshman Judia Holton set the women’s hammer mark with a throw of 24.67 meters (80’11”) that placed 41st among 44 contestants. Classmate Jackie Grant made her college track and field debut with a record-setting javelin toss of 25.94 meters (85’11”) that placed 15th in the 25-woman field. Both marks were originally set in 2010, Guilford’s first season of varsity women’s track and field.

On the men’s side, senior David LaPlaca was the Quakers’ lone competitor Friday. He threw the javelin 32.99 meters (108’83”) in his season debut.

The bulk of the two-day event featuring schools from all three NCAA Divisions takes place Saturday (4/2) at the Matthes-Hopkins Track Complex.
