The Greensboro Grasshoppers’ home opener is still a week away, but the team begins their 2011 season/campaign on the road tonight at Salisbury, Maryland, where they will take on the Shorebirds, Class A SALLY League farmhands, for the new and improved Baltimore Orioles, who have begun the season red-hot, under manager Buck Showalter…..

The Hoppers will be missing their manager and this message from Mr. Mills(Jeff Mills-N&R) fills us in on what is the word, on the coming and goings of Andy Haines, the Greensboro Grasshoppers’ field skipper…..

GREENSBORO — Andy Haines is back for his second season as the Greensboro Grasshoppers manager.

But Haines won’t be with the team for tonight’s season opener against the Delmarva Shorebirds in Salisbury, Md.

After a whirlwind two days in Greensboro, Haines flew home to Tennessee for the birth of his second child.
