Women’s Lacrosse Final – Lynchburg 17, Guilford 3

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Lesley Buckingham scored five goals and two assists in visiting Lynchburg College’s 17-3 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) lacrosse win at Guilford College Saturday. The victory marked the Hornets’ (9-3) sixth straight and kept them unbeaten (5-0) in league play.

Buckingham had two goals and two assists in the 9-0 Lynchburg run that opened the game. She scored the match’s first goal and teammate Patty Sheahan scored 13 seconds later for a quick 2-0 edge. Nine different Hornets tallied in the first half, which helped the visitors open a 12-1 halftime lead.

Lynchburg’s defense denied Guilford’s (3-9, 2-3 ODAC) comeback hopes by limiting the Quakers to 14 shots. Christina Tran played over 51 minutes in goal and made seven of the Hornets’ eight saves. In addition to her strong offensive play, Buckingham also picked up five ground balls and five draw controls, both game highs.

Kendall Adkin scored three times and added an assist for Lynchburg. Teammate Morgan Logue chipped in five points on two goals and three assists. Julie Will also tallied twice for the Hornets.

E’leyna Garcia scored a goal and an assist for Guilford. Summer Frazier and Shannon Kandola were Quakers’ other goal scorers. Katie Olive had five ground balls and caused three turnovers. Goalie Liza Mettler made nine saves.

The Quakers host Randolph-Macon College next Saturday (4/16) in an ODAC game.
