Men’s Golf Results – Guilford Extends Lead at ODAC Championships

CAPE CHARLES, Va. – Top-ranked Guilford College’s Noah Ratner (Asheville, N.C./Asheville) and Mat Hennick both shot even-par 72 in Monday’s second round of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championships to help the Quakers open a 15-stroke lead in the eight-team standings.

The tournament champion will be crowned after Tuesday’s third and final round at the Bay Creek Resort. The winner earns the ODAC’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championships at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro May 10-13.

Guilford started the day with a four-stroke edge over Hampden-Sydney College and shot 294 Monday for a 36-hole 597. Bridgewater College turned in Monday’s low score (293) and climbed into second place with a two-day total of 612. Hampden-Sydney carded its second straight 307 and sits in third place at 614.

Ratner and Hampden-Sydney’s Ronnie Fultz share the individual lead in the 40-man field with matching scores of three-over 147. The Quakers’ Dusty Roberts (Reidsville, N.C./Rockingham County) shook off a nine on one hole and finished with his second straight round of 74 to hold third place at 148. Four students, including first-round leader Max Wyndorf of Randolph-Macon College, share fourth at 149. Guilford’s Hennick sits in an eighth-place tie at 150, two shots ahead of teammate J.T. Thomas (76-76-152). Quakers’ freshman Alex Wise (Eden, N.C./Carlisle School (Va.)) is in 16th place at 156.

The Quakers are bidding for their 11th ODAC title and their first since 2007. Guilford is ranked first in the latest Nike Golf/Golf World Division III Coaches’ Poll and Golfstat.com Division III Relative Rankings.
