Antonio Graham has beat the spam and he’s got the word on the Hoppers as they get set to scram(leave town for Greenville, S.C.)

Greensboro Grasshoppers Next road trip
by Antonio Graham

As the ‘Hoppers embark on a 9-game road trip through the Greenville Drive (5
games; Apr. 25-29) and West Virginia Power (4; Apr. 30-May 3), here is a little more
about the opponents:

The Hoppers last season only saw the Drive (Boston Red Sox affiliates) 3 times and
went 1-2 at Flour Field in Greenville, S.C. They, however, have not been to NewBridge
Bank Park since the start of the 2009 season. Due to the quirky SAL scheduling, this
will be the one and only appearance between teams, since the Drive are not apart of
the Northern Division, like the ‘Hoppers are currently in.

However, versus the Power (Pittsburgh Pirates parent club), the Hoppers had the
advantage (once again due to scheduling), going 7-2 against the West Virginians. The
last time these teams met was June 24-28, as both teams started the second-half
second in Greensboro, and the home team defeated them in their only appearance here
4 out of 5 games; at that point, the ‘Hoppers were in first place to start the other
half. And, unlike Greenville, they will they will come to North Carolina twice this
season (June 12-15 and Aug. 22-25).

The next homestand will be May 5-12 against both the Hickory Crawdads (Texas
Rangers; May 5-8) and the defending 2-time champions Lakewood Blue Claws
(Philadelphia Phillies; May 9-12).
