Western Guilford hit poll at (7-12) and we had them at (6-12) earlier in the day, but they have 6 conference wins and they picked up one win at the Graham Easter Tournament when Brandon Ahrens threw that one-hitter and that should take WG to (7-12)….WG played SEG to a 3-0 game the other night and it would have been closer had the run scored for WG in the first inning and most fans that have now seen the video feel that the runner was in there and if I’m WG after the lead-off HR to Josh Tobias, I don’t pitch to him again and that makes the game 2-1 SEG and you have a nail-biter on your hands…..Coach Causey knows what he is doing for sure, but Josh can kill you if he is given the chance and he had I believe 3 of SEG’s five hits…..Nin Marrero threw a good ball game for WG and who knows, maybe we’ll see those two again in the conference tournament….
Plenty of good baseball left to be played and with the daylight settling in longer now, that should be a boost for all area umpires…..
Western defeated the Durham School of the Arts that game at Graham and does put them at (7-12) overall for the year after the SEG game….I ought to be in line to receive some big props at the end of the season after the way we have covered these games this year…..I know I can into one of the local “Pin the Tail on the Donkey” games after the season we have had here at the site……
