HS Baseball Bulletin Board for 5/6/11

I think it was one year ago today, we had Ragsdale versus Southwest Guilford for the Conference Tournament Title at SWG, with DeSean Anderson(South Carolina) vs. Brock Hudgens(Charlotte) and the Cowboys got the victory….Good memories of those days/games….

Games due up tonight:
High Point Christian Academy at Greensboro Day School 5pm

Wesleyan at Forsyth Country Day School 5pm

Dudley(7-5) vs. Southern Alamance(9-3) 7pm in the Metro 4-A Conference Tournament Semifinals, at Southeast Guilford…The winner of this game will play SEG for the title on Monday night….Corey Kimber is available to pitch for Dudley and the comments coming out of last night’s game at SEG are saying the Grill is off the hook and you should tip the cook….News and Record restaurant reviewer John Batchelor is said to be on his way to the game tonight at Southeast, with pen and plate in hand….

Northwest Guilford vs. Southwest Guilford 5pm at Glenn in Piedmont Triad 4-A Semifinals…..Maybe Everett vs. Geoghegan….Both pitched on Monday, but you know what they say about rest……Both teams should be pumped up at the chance/opportunity to meet for another time this season….Matt(Mo) Orth’s avaiablity? Not sure, but I would think not, coming off of that injury from Monday’s game with East Forsyth…..If NWG were to get by SWG, Keaton Haack would be ready for somebody by Monday night…..Adam Swim’s bat has been hot for NWG lately, he has moved from down near #7 or 8, all the way up to #2 in the Viking lineup….SWG has a small, but very stout/strong player in Kyle Miller….

East Forsyth vs. Glenn 7:30pm at Glenn in the Piedmont Triad’s other semifinal game….Noah Pearl to hurl for Glenn(?) and could Zach Joyce be the man for East Forsyth?….The kid from East, Dillon Ward, who pitched at Southwest Guilford on Monday, was really something….That kid can pitch…..But, I wouldn’t think he would be going at it tonight….

Rockingham County vs. Morehead 7pm at Rockingham County for the Mid-State 3-A Tournament Title…..We need to get a little more on this one, but Morehead might just be the Most Improved team in the state this season….I don’t remember Morehead being this tough in baseball, in previous years/seasons…..

  1. Morehead did the same thing last year after finishing last in the Mid-State 3A they advanced to the tournament championship.

Winner tonight between Morehead and RC knocks Western Alamance out of the 2 seed and gets a home playoff game…

  2. Memory is not all that good Andy. Ragsdle and Southwest Guilford met in the “Semi-Finals” of the Cofnerence Tournament last year and Southwest did win 12 – 3. Southwest then went on to face East Forsyth in the Finals and won that game by a 2 – 1 score.

  3. I remember it was real warm Friday afternoon and DeSean hit a home run early, but Ragsdale could not come up with enough to win it as SWG rolled on….They played the first game on that Friday and that made it even hotter at SWG and the home team played first….With all the games I’ve been seeing lately, I’m glad I got the right teams in there….

That Monday night game was tight and it was kind of a cloudy, damp cooler evening on that Monday…..I was standing along the fence on the right field side…..That was about the time East Forsyth started to make their run at the state title….

I later remember that playoff game with East vs. Glenn at East and Glenn had that kid Parks Jordan, that went to North Carolina, but East took one from Glenn and East moved on toward the finals….This year it looks like Glenn “might” be the team on the move……

Good thoughts and I was thinking back last night and I was wondering why they would end up a full week before the playoffs would start, but they finished on Monday, just like they’ll do this year….

Northeast Guilford finished up last night(Thursday) and they would be off till next Friday, but they have their NEG school prom next Friday, so they will apply to have their Round One game moved up to Thursday…..

Neat looking back and neat looking ahead too…..
