Most competitive High School girls basketball conferences from 2011

#1 Mid-State 3-A:
1.Burlington Williams: 26-4
2. Northern Guilford: 24-5
3. Eastern Guilford: 23-6
4. Rockingham: 14-13

Why? This conference produced two All NC PREPS All Staters of the overall twelve
selected irregardless of class: (Miranda Jenkins & Samantha Coffer): The
conference had four players to make either first , second or honorable
mention All Guilford Teams: Miranda Jenkins( First Team), Samantha Coffer (First
Team) Amanda Coffer (Honorable mention) and AtumnCarter of Rockingham second
team): The conference had the Player of the Year in Guilford County, Burlington
Times News and Greensborosport.com: (Miranda Jenkins of Eastern Guilford):
Samantha Coffer made the North- South All Star Team. Each of the top four teams
advanced at least to the second round of State playoffs with Burlington Williams
advancing to the Regionals. The conference had only one of the few teams that
beat 4A Class Champion Southwest Guilford at their home court 60-45 in Eastern
Guilford. The conference has three players thus far that will be playing at the
Division 1 level in Collegiate Basketball , Samantha Coffer (Elon), Miranda
Jenkins (Stony Brook) and Autumn Carter (Verbal to Elon): The top four teams
produced an 87-28 overall record.

#2 Piedmont Triad 4-A:
1.Southwest Guilford: 30-2
2. Northwest Guilford: 21-7
3. Highpoint Central: 20-7
4. Ragsdale: 11-16

Why? The conference produced the State Champion in Southwest Guilford and had
the State’s best coach in Jessica Bryan. Zena Lovette made the original All
State team of 12 irregardless of class by NC Preps.com. Southwest Guilford did
place Jessica Pone on the All State team when they went by class alone and
honorable mention All Area. Conference did produce one first team All Area in
Zena Lovette and second team in Shannon Buchannon. Allyssa Munson of Northwest
Guilford made Honorable Mention along with Arielle Harris of Highpoint Central
and Ciarra Jackson of Ragsdale. Northwest Guilford did advance to the second
round. The conference have one player Ciarra Jackson (Navy) going to a DI
program. Several could be going to D1, D11 or D111 programs come this time next
Spring. The conference had an 82-32 overall record of its top four teams.

#3 Metro 4-A:
1. Dudley: 25-2
2. Southeast Guilford: 17-8
3. Page: 17-9
4. Western Guilford: 12-13

Why? The conference only had one dominant team in Dudley whom advanced to the
Sectionals. Page advanced to the second round and appears to be one of the front
runners in the years to come with Second team All Area Paris Kea leading the
way. Southeast Guilford collapse down the stretch and were gone after the first
round. Western Guilford made some strides but are still not there yet. The
conference had three players going to DI or D11 basketball programs in Desiree
Drayton (Charlotte), Kierra McIvor (Radford) and Ayshia Mcneil (Wingate). The
conference had one player to make All Area Drayton (Dudley) and second team
Mcneil (SEG). Many made Honorable mention All Area McIver (Dudley), Ebony Goins
(Dudley), KK Rouse (Dudley), Brittany Drew(Page), Brittany Clency (WG), Carnique Mark (WG), Roxanne Hensall (Grimsley) and Brittany Price (SEG). Desiree Drayton made NC Preps All State in her classification. The conference had a 71-32 overall record of its
top four teams.

#4 Mid-Piedmont 3-A:
1.Asheboro: 24-5
2. Ledford: 21-6
3. Southern Guilford: 13-12
4. Southwest Randolph: 11-14

Why? Asheboro was clearly the best team in this conference along with Ledford
that showed any kind of consistency. Southern Guilford made major improvements
on its season but had a rough time out of conference by going 4-10 overall and
losing in double digits. The conference had Kamille Horne (Southern Guilford) to
make second team All Area. Asheboro was the only team to advance to the second
round and loss by 15 points to Northern Guilford 64-49. Kamille Horne signed
with D11 Pembroke College. The conference had an overall record of 69-37.
