GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Greensboro College men’s golf team is the 2010-2011 NCAA DIII National Champion. The Pride defeated the field at the NCAA National Championships by six strokes held at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, NC.

Mid-way through the round, GC had lost it’s lead and were tied with Illinois Wesleyan before The Pride took control, and the field began to fall behind. The back nine was where Greensboro found its stride all week long, and today was no exception. Pride players hit 9 biridies on the back nine to secure the team national championship. Brock Elder (Greensboro, NC/Vandalia Christian) finished the round with a 67, -5, which helped him to a fifth place tie in the individual standings.

Elder earned First Team All-American honors, while Connor Kennedy (Siler City, NC/Jordan Matthews High School) and Ben Nihart (Winston-Salem, NC/Home school) were named Second Team All-American’s.

This national championship was Greensboro College’s second, the last one coming from the men’s golf team in 2000.

Chris Morris from Centre College took home the individual national championship.
