Chris Ferrante leads Post 87 Legion team to exhibition win over Greensboro Reds

THOMASVILLE – Chris Ferrante(Wesleyan) cracked a three-run home run to help Post 87 finish their exhibition schedule with a 17-7 romp over the Greensboro Reds, in a game stopped in the eighth inning because of a 10-run mercy rule, Monday at Finch Field.

Ferrante also went 3-for-4 and scored two runs. Justin Morrison(HPCA) was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Joanthon Bethea(HPCA) was 2-for-4, drove in two runs and scored two. Mike Whitted(Ragsdale/Catawba) (2-for-5) and Victor Zecca (2-for.4) both scored three runs.

Peter Marois got the win, allowing one run and one hit while striking out four in four innings of relief.

Post 87 opens the regular season by traveling to Albemarle to face Stanly County on Wednesday for a non-divisional game. Post 87 will host Stanly County on Friday at Finch Field.
