from Phillip Gardner at the Gaston Gazette on the Northeast Guilford Rams(29-1), as they set to face-off with South Point, on Friday in Raleigh, for the NCHSAA 3-A Baseball State Championship……

The NEG Rams feature a wealth of power hitters, headed by Jaylin Davis and Johnny Brown with 10 home runs each. The team has smacked a staggering 89 home runs over the past two seasons.

“They’re a good hitting team and they score a lot of runs and I think our strength has been pitching and defense all year,” South Point coach Jason Lineberger said. “It’ll be interesting to see how that works out. Something will have to give.”

South Point has surrendered six runs in its six playoff games combined.
