Former News and Record writer John C. Manuel(Baseball America) says watch for these guys in the MLB Draft today

UNC’s Levi Michael(North Davidson High School) was selected by the Minnesota Twins, with the 30th pick overall and the Tar Heel shortstop, goes in Round One of the MLB Draft…..The draft continues today at Noon and we will still be looking for kids like Clint Moore, Josh Tobias, George Carter, Luis Paula, Warren Slack, Esterlin Paulino, Matt Dillon, Kyle Wooden and others to see if and when they are selected…….

Former News and Record writer John C. Manuel, now at the Baseball America publication, has his thoughts on the draft coming our way from Mr. Manuel, by way of the WRALSportsFan.com……You say there is a manuel for this draft? John C. Manuel has it covered……..J.C. Manuel says:

North Carolina talents that project in the first 10 rounds of the draft include Pratt Maynard, C, NC State; Shawn Armstrong, RHP, ECU and Zach Wright, C, ECU as well as left handed pitcher from Holly Springs H.S., NC State commit Carlos Rodon. Maynard has scouts on either side of the fence on his abilities while Rodon’s questions are about his commitment to college.

“If you like Pratt Maynard, you think he might be an everyday catcher. He’s an offensive catcher,” Manuel said. “If you don’t like Pratt Maynard, and you’re like, ‘Well, he doesn’t catch everyday. I’m not sure if he could handle it defensively.'”

“I’m 50-50,” Rodon said.”I love Coach Avent and the Wolfpack. I’m still going there right now, and we’ll see what happens in the draft.”
