Frank Eaves from Page. Easily top 5. Better than Dillard and Hunt. That’s why they are trying to recruit him over to Dudley.

  • unc-BB scout57 said,

Can’t believe you didn’t include Adam Coble in that group. He is the most highly recruited in my opinion. Besides Dillard, Coble is the only other high level division 1 recruit on the list unless grades become an issue. I know that Coach Haase from UNC is watching him closely. I know that Richmond, Alabama, and App are watching him closely. South Carolina is in the running. The kid has already been offered 3 division 1 scholarships to play. If he transfers to Hargrave I believe it will even take him to a new level. His injury hurt his Jr. year, however it hasn’t stopped him. I know personally, he is the top player on my list.

  • Tom said,

He is a good player, but I don’t see him as a high D1 prospect. Hopefully he proves me wrong. These lists always stir up the crowd, but they are fun. The players on the list are worthy, but there are probably 10 more that are getting decent college looks.

  • Guest said,

Coble is a great player but let’s be honest, we all know that he’s not a high major recruit. It’s a pipe dream that he will ever play in the ACC, even if he takes an additional year of high school at Hargrave or anywhere else. The same is the case for Dillard as he is a mid-major recruit that could potential slide into a high-major situation if a team is desperate in the late signing period. The best fit for Dillard would be in the CAA or Big South. He’ll have to improve to find time in the CAA and would play immediately in the Big South. Coble is more of a Big South-SoCon level prospect if he works. Best fit would be Atlantic Sun-type league if he wants to see the court his freshman year.

  • J.D. Springer said,

So Theo Pinson is the top ranked player in his class in the country, but not top five in Guilford County. Unless you’re assuming he’s headed somewhere else after they shut down ORMA, I’m not sure I understand that omission.

  • Yes sir said,

Theo Pinson is undoubtedly the best prospect in the area. Any “list” has to include him. Dillard has really fallen off in a lot of ways.not sure if it is lack of skill improvement or others just catching up to him. Still a good player. I would certainly put Eaves up there as well, he had a great year last year. Coble is a solid high school player but hasn’t done anything to deserve being mentioned as the best in the county. That’s not meant as an insult to him. Ogbodo from High Point Christian is on the board now as a high major recruit, Wake is all over him, but he is still raw and not ready to be crowned. Heard an interesting rumor on Kent, but will not repeat it because I don’t know the validity. Jaquel Richmond and Montay Branron are both really good players from Wesleyan and capable of being mentioned. Should have another year of talented hoopsters in the area. The “best” will have to be decided on the court.

Theo Pinson is in on this big meeting out in Colorado:

U.S. Squad To Begin Training June 10 In Colorado Springs —

Don Showalter led the 2009-10 USA Developmental National Team to golds at the FIBA
Americas U16 Championship and FIBA U17 World Championship, and is looking to repeat
    in 2011-12.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 7, 2011) — Demonte Flannigan (Villa
    Angela-St. Josephs H.S. / Richmond Heights, Ohio),Justin Jackson (Home
School Christian Association / Houston, Texas) andRondae Jefferson
(Chester H.S./Chester, Pa.) have been added to the 2011-12 USA Basketball
Men’s Developmental National Team, USA Basketball today announced. The
addition of Flannigan, Jackson and Jefferson ups the roster to 27 of the
nation’s top 16-and-under basketball standouts who are on the 2011-12 USA
squad. The team begins training camp on June 10 at the U.S. Olympic
Training Center (USOTC) in Colorado Springs, Colo.

The 2011 USA U16 National Team and 2012 USA U17 World Championship Team, should the
U.S. qualify for the U17 Worlds, will be comprised of USA Developmental National
Team members. Invitations were issued by the USA Basketball Men’s Developmental
    National Team Committee.

“Anytime you add someone to the training camp, you look for athletes who will have a
chance to add to the roster and these three do that,” said two-time USA Basketball
Developmental Coach of the YearDon Showalter (Mid-Prairie High School, Iowa), who is
taking on his second stint as the USA Developmental National Team head coach after
guiding the USA to perfect records and gold medals at the 2010 FIBA U17 World
Championship and 2009 FIBA Americas U16 Championship. “They give us some really good
versatility. They’re all players who can play more than one position. They can
defend, which we look at really closely, and they’re able to score. You put those
things together and it’s a pretty good
    package.

“We had the mini-camp last October and we got a little bit of a feel for what most
of this team can do. Then I had a chance to see some of them this spring, which is a
really a nice thing. I got to see how much improvement they’ve made since last
October. That gets me even more excited about getting them out on the court this
week and seeing what they can do in order to compete for that gold medal.”

Showalter will be assisted over the next two years byRich Gray (St. Louis Eagles
AAU, Mo.) andMike Jones (DeMatha High School, Md.).

The previously announced members of the 2011-12 USA Developmental National Team
include:Shaqquan Aaron (Mater Dei H.S. / Apple Valley, Calif.);Beejay Anya (DeMatha

    What about the girls?

  • Smith Grad said,

    What about Wimbush from Smith?

    What about KK from Dudley?

Our Greer should be in the running!

  • Ram said,

    Nobody listed from Northeast Guilford.
Anyone thought of Cameron Smith,Brice Benjamin, Trevon Williamson or Jalen Hairston.
They have quite a bit of depth as well.
Oh well they will play team ball and be at least close to as good as last year w/o a hyped superstar.

  • bball fan said,

Tracey Gathings anybody…. Average a double double during Smith’s run during the conference tournament……… Wow I can’t believe know one give this guy love……………

  • c'mon said,

In my eyes, interest means nothing, if their isn’t an offer than they are not really a “prospect.” And the fact is that are only a few players in the area with actual contract style offers from DI programs and those people Montay Brandon, Adam Coble, Reggie Dillard, and Jaquel Richmond (Not sure if Theo Pinson has any offers yet). Richmond will only be a sophomore so he will just keep getting offers and some really good ones. The schools who have offered Adam Coble are small. Reggie Dillard’s best offer is VCU so I think it is clear that Montay Brandon should be on this list. He has 6 or 7 offers including two from power conferences in the SEC and the Big 12. So my first question would be, why is he not on the list? And the second question I would ask would be why is Reggie the only player with offers even on the list?

  • correct spelling said,

Paris Kea is the correct spelling. She will be fun to watch next year and I’m glad she’s going to be back at Page.

  • Dudley Finest said,

We should have at least three Dudley girls on that list for front runner player of the year.

  • NWG FAN said,

Look for Munson or Harper to be one of the top candidates for player of the year. They could be the dark horses that will slip up on all the listed above cadidates!

  • Pirate said,

I like Eaves and I believe this will be a major break out year for him if he is not held down.

  • SWG said,

I see no reaon why Zena should not be player of the year. She is the best player in guilford county coming up this year.

  • knighthawk country said,

Don’t forget that we have another Cofer over here that is ready to put her ballot in!

    GO Amanda!

  • unanimous said,

@C’mon you are right. Montay and Quel should both be on the list Montay even picked up another offer from the Big 12 this week in Oklahoma St.
No other kids have offers on tht list except Reggie and none are better better then Quel or Montay on their. This list just disappoints me.

  • Honest said,

Reggie Dilliard is the best public school player and Montay Brandon is the best private school player.
Cedrica Gibson is the best private school player and Paris Kea is the best public school player.

  • Pantherette said,

I think KK Rouse is the area’s best girl player and Reggie Dillard is the boys for this coming year! Until a person has played at least two ormore years for a full season, I see no reason to pencil them in.

  • heels79 said,

Dillard is a good player if he stays focused and keeps his grades up. Coble, in my opinion is the most consistent player on the court. Today, he knocked in 21 points against Thomasville Prep with 9 rebounds and 5 blocks. He is not a showboat like many kids out on the floor. Real college basketball is a team effort, not a dunk fest. Coble’s are consistent stats and he is an unselfish player, despite having a “point guard” that seems to avoid passing the ball to Coble. . High Point, Presbyterian, APP, and Alabama have offers on the table. LSU is a potential….coming to watch his practice. I also hear that Richmond is back in the game as well. I believe we are getting ready to see this kid explode with offers. Being affiliated with UNC, I know that his name is mentioned quite often.
