Kyle Winters and Greensboro Grasshoppers throw one-hitter at West Virginia and shut out Power 5-0…..

Greensboro Grasshoppers 5
West Virginia 0

WP:Kyle Winters(7-3)
LP:Tyler Waldron(5-3)
HR:(GSO) Mark Canha(10)

GSO RBI’s:Canha 2 (33)….Marcell Ozuna(32)….Danny Black(25)….Brian McConkey(19)…..

GSO:5-8-0….GSO(36-27)
WVA:0-1-1….WVA(31-31)

Probably the most complete pitching effort/performance we have seen turned in by Hoppers’ starter Kyle Winters…..Excellent job by the (RHP), his line reading 0 runs on 1 hit, with 1 BB and 7 K’s, in 7 innings of work…….Saw him with Greensboro back around 2007 and tonight had to be his best outing yet….Injuries had slowed Kyle’s progress, but tonight he was on his game and looked great out there on the hill…….One inning each, of strong relief work turned in, by Hoppers’ bullpen pitchers Jordan Conley and Michael Brady….

GSO’s Mark Canha was 2-2 with the two-run HR and a single and he was on two more times with BB’s……Canha two runs scored and 2 RBI’s…….

  1. Excellent game last night. Enjoyed listening to every minute of it Andy. I am wondering if I can help you figure out that song, “we’ve got tonight, who needs tomorrow….. why don’t we stay”. Hmmmm, I think I once (yeah just once) heard a similar tune by a guy named Seager. But not quite sure about that. Had a lot of fun listening to you try and work that out. Hope the Hoppers have 2 big wins tonight to add to their position in the standings. Go Hoppers!!!!

  2. The Hoppers got those two wins and I do remember Bob and his Silver Bullet Band and their version of “My song” and then there was also Kenny Rogers and Sheena Easton’s version as well, I do believe….I wrote it, but forgot to claim it until this week…..
