Brandon Burkes(Dudley HS) is back in baseball

Brandon Burkes, the young man from Dudley High School, that broke his neck in football practice last August, is back playing baseball again, with Grady Lawson’s Eastern Randolph Legion team…..

I always said, that “Burkes will be Back” and he is, and that is a real good thing….

He is a great young man that comes from a super family and it really is nice to hear about Brandon Burkes up and playing baseball again….

Brandon Burkes was able to practice all season long for Coach Larry Farrer’s Dudley Panthers, but the doctor would not release Brandon to play in the games, but now, “Burkes is Back”….

“I have never seen a kid that big and strong that could play shortstop”, said Grady Lawson…..

Lawson’s comments were heard tonight on AM950 radio, during the Southeast Guilford Junior Legion game against Eastern Randolph, at SEG…

Grady Lawson went on to say, “he’s like a bull out there, I’m 82 years old and I’ve never really seen anything quite like Burkes”……

Brandon Burkes is back and playing baseball again and it is just like we were saying here last year, Burkes will be back and now:

Burkes is Back, ……..

  1. Wonderful news!!!! Congrats Brandon on a wonderful recovery!!! glad to hear he has a second chance to pursue one of the sports he loves!! although im pretty sure everyone in panther land would have loved to see you in that #10 football jersey again…. we are very happy we get to see you in that #18 baseball jersey!! I know Brandon has been waiting for this moment for a long time… congrats to the whole burkes family!! God BLESS!!!! PANTHER PRIDE!!!

  2. Brandon is a real college baseball prospect — His size and speed and footwork at SS is something you love to watch– PLUS he can hit. I know that Grady Lawson will work hard to get him seen by college coaches. Grady has a great track record in helping young men get seen. Over the years over 90% of the players that leave Grady’s American Legion program go on to play college baseball with some form of scholarship. I know that a lot of college coaches know and respect Grady Lawson’s opinion of a prospect. Grady will spread the word as will I — Work hard in the classroom like you do on the field Brandon !!
