The Seattle Mariners have announced that top prospect, Dustin Ackley, has been promoted to the major leagues and will make his debut Friday night at home against Roy Oswalt and the Philadelphia Phillies.

Ackley, 23, was the Mariners’ first-round selection (second overall) in the 2009 draft out of the University of North Carolina. Ackley was hitting .303 with a .421 OBP and .908 OPS with nine home runs, 35 RBIs and seven stolen bases in 66 games for Tacoma, the Mariners’ AAA affiliate of the Pacific Coast League.
