Following The Hoppers In The Hunt!

The Grasshoppers are very close to winning the Northern Division first half championship of the South Atlantic League. (This guarantees a play-off spot, as well as a healthy contribution to local charities by the Grasshoppers.)

As of today, Hickory and Greensboro are tied for first place (with the tie going to Hickory based on the percentage rule.) Hickory did not play 2 games, probably as a result of weather and as a result has a Higher Percentage Winning Record; despite winning 1 game less than the Grasshoppers as well as losing 1 game less. Hagerstown is back by 2 games.

All three teams are playing the same opponents through Sunday; but as you know, any team can can “show up” any night. Greensboro is playing Kannapolis on the road (right down I-85). Hickory is playing Charleston (SC) at home. Hagerstown is playing Delmarva at home.

Because the Grasshoppers are on road, they could really use some Fan Support. Kannapolis is only an hour down I-85 (north of Charlotte). Drive South on I-85, Take Exit 63, Turn Right off exit ramp onto Lane Street, Turn Right onto Stadium Drive (stadium entrance). It is THAT SIMPLE.

At Kannapolis, Friday (7:05 PM), they have Post-Game Fireworks. Saturday (7:05 PM), they are having Baseball Card Show, Chick-Fil-A Night, NASCAR SpeedPark Night AND Fireworks! Sunday (5:05 PM) is Kids Day.

Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium is a nice park with plenty of parking ($2 per car). Not a lot of free options since the stadium is in a remote location. Concessions are reasonably priced and a good variety.

If you can’t make the game, you can listen to the game via our link at the top of the page. (It will take you to the Kannapolis broadcast page.)

Go Hoppers!
