College World Series FINALS begin tonight in Omaha with local connections

The defending NCAA Champion South Carolina Gamecocks meet the Florida Gators tonight, in Game One of the Best-of-Three Series, in the College Baseball World Series, at Omaha, Nebraska…….

We have local connections since DeSean Anderson(Ragsdale High School) is already with South Carolina and Josh Tobias(Southeast Guilford High School) plans to be with the Florida Gators, next season……..DeSean Anderson’s freshman #’s for USC….21 games played with 13 starts…..47 at bats…..10 runs…..9 hits….4 doubles….5 RBI’s…..

Along those local lines, Clint Moore(Grimsley HS/US Military Academy), had his best day so far as a pro on Sunday,

Going (3-6) with
4 Runs
HR
Double
and 4 RBI’s…….All for the Eugene, Oregon Emeralds in their 14-4 win over Everette……Eugene is the Summer Season team for the San Diego Padres and Clint was at shortstop on Sunday…….

  1. Another roundabout connection…..Jake Potter, graduate of Elon, is the studio host for South Carolina radio for baseball.

  2. In another local twist, the gentleman in here this past weekend calling the baseball games for the Hagerstown Suns and the man riding on the Bryce Harper’s Ferry this season, he is another Elon grad and those Phoenix at USC, Hagerstown, Guilford College, Georgia Tech(Wes Durham), Elon(Taylor Durham), The ACC(Tripp Durham); those Elon students/grads and former faculty too, they are shaping the eccletic sports universe of 2011 and beyond….

  3. Yeah, Bryan Holland is the guy. He’s a guy that’s come a long way and now he gets an experience of a lifetime. He’s earned it, that’s for sure. I worked with him in my last two years at Elon and the guy knows his baseball stuff. He’s from Maryland, so the fact he got a gig in his home state was incredible…add on Bryce Harper and then it’s even bigger. I’m real proud of Bryan.
