Mitch Atkins has pitched in the major leagues as a reliever with the Chicago Cubs, but the right-hander out of Northeast Guilford HS will get his first major start tonight as he goes for the Baltimore Orioles against the Texas Rangers, in Arlington, Texas…..

Good luck to Mitch(NEG) as he will pitch for the Birds versus the Rangers tonight……You have to know, that everyone associated with Northeast Guilford, all the coaches, fans, family and friends have to be real proud of Mitch as he gets to throw for the Orioles this evening….

from the Orioles site at www.mlb.com:

The Orioles called up right-hander Mitch Atkins to start Tuesday(Tonight). Atkins, who was a non-roster invitee this spring, was sidelined all of camp with a left oblique strain. He’s 2-3 with a 3.11 ERA in eight starts at Triple-A Norfolk.

  • NE info said,

6 innings pitched…8 hits….4 strikeouts and only one earned run. A pretty good outing considering it was on the road against one of the best offensive teams in the American league.
