Galloway Gone!(2 Long Gone HR’s) and Garrison Lassiter back in town, as Hoppers down Dogs 9-3 on Tuesday night at NBBP

from Tuesday evenning at NewBridge Bank Park:

Greensboro Grasshoppers 9
Charleston RiverDogs 3

WP:Robert Morey(5-6)
LP:Shane Green(3-10)
HR’s(GSO)Isaac Galloway with 2(12) Ryan Fisher(12)
Hoppers had 4 Doubles with Fisher(24), Galloway(20), JT Realmuto(9) and Willy Gimenez(6)….
GSO(10-9)/CHAS(9-10)……

Isaac Galloway went long gone(Galloway Gone) twice last night, with both shots being solo home runs and then he added a two-run Double for (4) RBI’s on the evening……Very solid night for Galloway and the same can be said for Ryan Fisher, who hit his 12th homer of the year/season and Fish drove in three runs, during his 2-3 night at the plate, so in all, Galloway and Fisher produced 7 of the Hopper 9 runs on the night….Second baseman Noah Perio went 3-4 and stole his 12th base of the year…..

For Charleston, the Dogs pounded out 10 hits to the Hoppers 14, but the real news was, Garrison Lassiter was back in town…..Lassiter, from High Point, was drafted by the New York Yankees a couple of years back(2008) out of West Forsyth High School by way of Ledford High School….Garrison had a scholarship to the University of North Carolina coming out of high school and the Yankees drafted him in the lower rounds and still gave him big bonus money….The Yankees told Lassiter if you wait and let us pick up some of our players in the higher rounds, we’ll hope to hide you out and take you in the lower rounds(Round 27) and still give you top money…..Lassiter waited and the Yankees waited and the deal worked out….The deal/contract also stated that Lassiter’s college education would be taken care of by the Yankees when he leaves professional baseball, so Garrison Lassiter got a sound and solid professional baseball contract(with Good Bonus) and he still got his college scholarship too, to be paid for the New York Yankees and we all know that Mr. George Steinbrenner was always a big UNC man….His kids went to school at Carolina…..

So as the headline entails, Galloway Long Gone and Lassiter back in town/the Triad area……….

On Lassiter from Greensborosports.com:
Garrison Lassiter is a LEADER
Posted By Andy on August 28, 2007

I spoke with Garrison Lassiter’s dad, Cliff, today and he said Garrison should be back in town(High Point) this coming Monday.

The young shortstop out of West Forsyth HS is part of a 20 man USA Baseball squad now down in Ixtapa, Mexico.

Garrison could well be the top upcoming high school senior baseball player for 2008 in the state of North Carolina. He got his start as five year-old player and moved up through the ranks of AAU and UAAA. Lassiter was on the American Legion senior team by the time he was 14 and then began playing for Andy Partin and Impact Baseball when he was in the 10th grade.

Lassiter is a leader and he is good friends with David Mailman who just recently signed with the Boston Red Sox. Garrison’s natural position is shortstop and his high school coach is Randy Pope. Cliff Lassiter still remembers the catch made by the Grimsley Whirlies’ CF Alan Craven to eliminate the Titans from the State 4-A playoffs. Cliff also spoke highly of Alan Ashkinazy and job he did this year coaching Grimsley.

The Atlanta Braves are already watching the progress of Garrison Lassiter and they better keep an eye on the Lassiter family because he has a younger brother Landon, 14, that is going to be very talented before it’s all over.

Lassiter likes it at shortstop but he can also play at second and third base. He has already committed to the University of North Carolina but the pros may get this kid before he sets foot in Chapel Hill.

More on Lassiter from the RiverDogs sites and YES Network.com:
Lassiter hit .468 as a HS senior for the West Forsyth Titans, stealing 21 bases and scoring 29 runs in the process. He drove in the game winning run with a triple off the wall in the left-centerfield gap in the North Carolina vs South Carolina Senior Challenge in his last game as an amateur.

His early college commitment to North Carolina the Tar Heels caused him to drop big time in the draft; Lassiter lasted until the Yanks bit in the 27th round, #830 overall. Lassiter signed late on the August 15th deadline for $675,000, equivalent to slot money for a mid-second round pick.
