Local players for the Girls East-West All-Stars Soccer Game with Annear(Grimsley), Benson(Grimsley) and Hardie(NG)

Caitlin…Grimsley High…5-6…defender…coached by Herk DeGraw…as senior, named All-State, All-Region, All-Conference, Conference Defensive Player of the Year, team MVP… also competed in varsity swimming…member of National Honor Society…plans to attend Radford University…her dad is her role model…says “I’ve been watching the NCCA East-West All-Star games for a long time now and have always looked up to and admired the players. I am so excited to be a part of this tradition and becoming a role model for young athletes who were like me.”

Kelsey Benson
Kelsey…Grimsley High…5-4…defender…coached by Herk DeGraw…as senior, named All-Conference, All-Region…as junior, named All-Conference, All-Region…as sophomore, named All-Conference, All-Region…also played jv volleyball, where she was named team MVP, and basketball…member of National Honor Society…vice president of French Club….president of First Priority Club…plans to attend North Carolina State University where she will major in business management…wants to pursue a career in physical therapy…her favorite college athlete is Russell Wilson…favorite pro athlete is Phillip Rivers…says she is “very excited and honored to be playing in the all-star game, and expects to make connections with other players and make memories.”

Ashlyn Hardie
Ashlyn…Northern Guilford High…5-7…goalkeeper…coached by Andrew Hultberg…as senior, named All-Conference, team captain and MVP…as junior, named All-State, All-Region, All-Area, All-Conference, team captain…as sophomore, named All-Conference, All-Region…member of Beta Club, National Honor Society, Student Council…vice president of Safe Club…Highest Achievement in Biomedical Technology Award recipient…signed and athletic grant-in-aid with Wingate University where she will major in athletic training…wants to pursue a career in sports management…volleyball coach Terri Beam is her role model…her favorite pro athletes are Cindy Parlow and Ashlyn Harris…says she is “excited to play in the all-star game. Any opportunity I have to play with higher competition, I jump at. I am expecting to get a good, competitive game out of the event.”
