Tyler Lewis(FCD) taking his game to Oak Hill for his final year before heading to N.C. State

N.C. State basketball recruit Tyler Lewis is taking a step up in competition. Lewis, one of the top point guard prospects in the country, will finish his prep career at Oak Hill Academy.

Lewis, who will be a high school senior, averaged 27.2 points and 7.4 assists last season for Forsyth Country Day in Lewisville.

Doesn’t matter on the private school level…..There are two ways to look at this……You can play five years of varsity on the private school level and in some cases you might play six…..I have heard of and seen cases where in real small private schools, a kid could start as a 7th grader…..Oak Hill is also private, they are not a public school and they may be more classified as a prep school…..The have different teams at different levels…..Tyler Lewis will play for their top team and he’s eligible as of yesterday right before he committed……He’s eligible and he is ready to play and he would be in the same boat if he stayed at Forsyth Country Day…..Eligible there too, but now with a much better opportunity at Oak Hill……They are the #1 high school basketball program in the country……..

  5. He started since he was an 8th but has played varsity since 7th grade. You can play as many years of varsity as you want in private school given that you would eventually graduate. He could have played varsity in fourth grade if fourth graders were allowed to play sports. The reason why you can’t play more than four years in public school is because you are there for four years. Southwest Middle is a different school than Southwest High. A player can’t go to one school for class and a different school for sport. In private school, the elementary, middle, and high schools are all the same school so you can play varsity or high school sports as a middle schooler. Besides NCHSAA would have nothing to do with him playing at Oak Hill because they are in Virginia.
