This is the BIG ONE that East Carolina University Pirate Fans have been waiting for…….

from local chapter of the East Carolina Pirate Club:

Ahoy Pirate Fans!

The summer is coming to a close and you know what that means, football season is
near!!! I know you all are as anxious as I am to get the season started. We have a
thrilling schedule this year. The Triad Counties Pirate Club has put together some
exciting events. Get your calendars out…

1. 2011 Football Season Kickoff Party- Saturday, August 27th 5:00 p.m. @ fellow
Pirate Jerry Cunningham’s home (3506 Madison Ave. Greensboro). This was a hit last
year, so don’t miss this year’s event. We will have great food, Pirate games, and
more. Meet the local Representatives and other local Pirate fans. Bring as many
Pirates as you can, the more the merrier. Please let us know how many will be
attending so we will have an approximate number of people to expect.(Email or call
me: klopirate@msn.com, just Reply to this email) We want everyone
to have enough Pirate food/beverages and fun. Last chance to purchase raffle
tickets for first home games. (See next event)

2. 2 Tickets to Home ECU Football Games RAFFLE: This year we will be raffling off 2
Tickets to the first 3 home games at the Kickoff party. Yes, this will include Va.
Tech, UAB, and UNC tickets. You must get a raffle ticket to win, but you don’t have
to be present. To obtain a raffle ticket prior to the party, see one of our Reps.
(Go to website triadpirateclub.com for the list and contact info) The cost for the
ticket is $10. If you do not win, your ticket will be left in the pot for a
continued chance to win throughout the season.

3. Triad Counties Pirate Club tailgate at the ECU vs. USC game September 3rd. We
are in the process of organizing an opportunity for all to join us in Charlotte for
a little tailgating prior to the game. This will give new Triad Co. Pirates a
chance to meet us old Triad Co. Pirates. (Or should I say mature Pirates.) Look
for more information to come soon!!!!

4. ECU away game viewing parties. As we did last year, we will hold viewing parties
for away games at our official Pirate location, Buffalo Wings & Rings located at
1614 B High woods Blvd. Greensboro. There will be pre-game festivities and raffle
for 2 tickets to the upcoming home game(s). Always check with our website for more
information.

5. ECU vs. NAVY Oct. 22nd. We have organized a way to purchase tickets to the game
and/or bus trip. We will send out an email with more details regarding this event
in the next week. If you have any questions, please contact me.

Proceeds we raise at any Triad Counties Pirate Club Chapter event goes to our Ron
Pugh Endowment Fund. We appreciate everyone’s support during these events.

I want to thank everyone who has supported the ECU Pirate Club. Every dollar we
contribute helps to build our athletic programs. As always, if you ever have any
questions or would like to give us any feedback, please contact any of the chapter
representatives or myself.

Please pass this along to everyone you know. We want the word out about our
upcoming Pirate events.

Kristen Oliver
Triad Co. Pirate Club Chapter President

  • Rumor Mill said,

I hear Rocco Scarfone is starting at QB for ECU.
    Is this true???

  • No How No Way said,

No it’s not true. Wrong side of the ball. He was recruited as a defensive back in passing situations because of his speed.

The returning ECU QB is Dominique Davis. He is a preseason All America selection, is on the Maxwell Award and Davey O’Brien Award watch list. He led the conference in passing yards last year and was one of only 4 QB’s in the nation to average over 300+ passing yards per game. I think we are okay at the QB position.
