Greensboro Green team right at home at Colt World Series in Lafayette, Indiana

from www.jconline.com:

With the exceptions of Lafayette and Hoosier North, no Colt World Series team has participated more frequently in recent years than East Zone champion Greensboro, N.C.

When 2010 CWS runner-up Greensboro plays Laredo, Texas, this afternoon in Loeb Stadium, it will mark the North Carolina program’s sixth trip to Lafayette in the past eight years.

Greensboro was runner-up to Tampa in 2006, advanced to the semifinals in 2009 and was beaten 7-4 by Puerto Rico in last year’s championship game.
Right-handed pitchers Jaylin Davis and Corey Kimber, third baseman Mitch Carstens and shortstop Adam Gunn return from Greensboro’s 2010 CWS finalist.

First-year players DJ Reader (first base), Chris Corbett (outfielder) and Matt Horkey (outfielder/pitcher) helped Greensboro compile a 4-0 East Zone record, including a 7-2 championship game victory against Northern Ohio.

“We’re a very aggressive baseball team,” second-year manager D’Angelo Hall said. “When we’re playing well, we’re very aggressive at the plate. We’re also very solid defensively.”
