Sam King from JCOnline.com on Greensboro Green’s Colt World Series win from Sunday(with great photos)

from Sam King at www.jconline.com:

Greensboro Green collected 15 hits, including three run-scoring hits from center fielder Matt Horkey, in an 18-0, five-inning victory against Mexico at Loeb Stadium.

All 15 players had an at-bat for Greensboro, and 10 had at least one hit.
“We have a lot of experience on this team, a lot of veterans,” Horkey said. “This team is hot, and right now is a good time to be hot.”
Greensboro is now 2-0 in Red Division play, while Mexico falls to 0-2. If Lafayette defeats Laredo, Texas, today in a game postponed from Sunday, the Red Division’s two semifinalists will be established.
Greensboro starting pitcher Jaylin Davis said his team felt the need to win its first two games of the CWS.

“I’m not saying we’ll go into the next game relaxed, but it definitely helps take off the pressure,” Davis said.

Horkey was 3-for-3, and three other Greensboro players had two hits. Corey Kimber had two RBIs and a triple, and Adam Gunn had a pair of RBI doubles.

Zach McLean had a two-run triple off the bench for Greensboro, which improves to 6-0 overall as the current Greensboro Green team.
