Cherryville’s American Legion season ends after BaseBrawl in Sumter, South Carolina

It happened in a game this weekend at the American Legion Baseball Southeast Regionals in Sumter, S.C. and in the course of the BaseBrawl, the season came to end for the American Legion squad from Cherryville, N.C.

Cherryville was up 4-0 over the team from Douglasville, Georgia, when the Douglasville catcher fired a ball and hit Cherryville’s Blake Mosteller in the back as he was walking back to the dugout after scoring a run….

Both benches then emptied and the BaseBrawl ensued and in the end both teams had to forfeit and with the Double-Forfeit, game over and season over for both teams…..

Bad move and a bad deal for both teams and especially for Cherryville, since they were ahead 4-0 in the ball game…..

*****With the Double-Forfeit, I wonder what they did with the team that was supposed to face the winner of the Cherryville-Douglasville game, in the next round of the tournament…..Who would they play, since both teams are gone……Saw the video on WFMY NEWS 2 Sports on Monday night and maybe Brian Hall will send it our way…..*****
