Greensboro Green report from the Semifinal game at the Colt World Series in Lafayette, Indiana

Greensboro Green fell 5-2 to the team from Puerto Rico on Wednesday afternoon/night and we have the report from Clyde Hughes at www.jconline.com:

Puerto Rico earned the right to defend its Colt World Series title after a 5-2 victory over Greensboro, N.C., at Loeb Stadium Wednesday evening.

It was a rematch of last year’s championship game, also won by Puerto Rico 7-4. Jose Berrios shut out Greenboro over the final 2 2/3 innings and drove in the game-winning run with a single in the fifth.

“Coach told me before the game that I would be pitching in that situation, so I was ready,” said Berrios through an interpreter, coach Jose Santos.

It was a frustrating conclusion for Greensboro, which jumped out to a 2-0 lead but failed to drive in runs with the bases loaded in the third and fourth innings.
