Hoppers drop key game with tough loss on Tuesday night at NBBP

from Tuesday evening at NewBridge Bank Park:

West Virginia Power 10
Greensboro Grasshoppers 9

WP:Vince Payne(1-0)
LP:Grant Dayton(7-1)
SV:Jason Townsend(11)
HR’s:(GSO) Marcell Ozuna(22)….Ryan Fisher(17)…..JT Realmuto 2 (10)

WVA-10-13-2…WVA(26-32)
GSO-9-7-3….GSO(28-29)

*****Real crazy game with the Hoppers trailing early, down 7-0 and then they battled back to cut the lead to 7-4, on home runs by JT Realmuto and Ryan Fisher, then the Hoppers got all the way back in it, on another HR by JT, this time a three-run shot, to give him 6 RBI’s for the game and all of the sudden the game was tied at 7-7, headed into the top of the 9th inning and then the West Virginia Power put the game out of reach, on a two-out, pinch-hit, three-run home run to right field, by Mel Rojas Jr. and even though the Hoppers got a solo HR from Marcell Ozuna and they posted another run in the bottom of the ninth, they couldn’t get even again and could not find a way to win/pull it out, on Tuesday night…..From the bullpen Grant Dayton gave up a rare homer on the three-run shot by Rojas Jr. and Chris Shafer allowed a three-run home run to Andrew Maggi, the first man he faced, upon entering the game in relief of Alex Caldera……

A wild night with the big comeback and then the emotional conclusion, resulting in a loss on Tuesday night, with the Greensboro Grasshoppers at NewBridge Bank Park……*****
