Former Baltimore Orioles pitching great and Cy Young Award winner Mike Flanagan found dead at his home

He was one of the Orioles’ all-time greats along with Jim Palmer, Pat Dobson, Mike Cuellar, Mike Flanagan really stood out and now he is dead at age 59….They found him dead at his home on Wednesday….Mike Flanagan was more than just an Orioles’ pitcher…..He worked in the front office, he announced games on TV and radio, he would be out scouting talent for the team….His sole passion in life, in his latter years, was to see the Baltimore Orioles return to the prominence that they had experienced, in the 1970’s and the early 80’s….

BALTIMORE — Mike Flanagan, a former Cy Young winner and part of the Baltimore Orioles’ 1983 World Series championship team, has died. He was 59.

Authorities found a body outside Flanagan’s home in Monkton, Md., on Wednesday afternoon. Hours later, the Orioles confirmed that Flanagan — who served the team as a pitcher, front office executive and television broadcaster — was dead.
