Player of the Year: Kathryn Lyons- Jr. Bishop Mcguiness: Mcdonald’ All American
candidate. Two time News -Records Palyer of the year.Verbal to Maryland as a
sophomore. Rated as one of the top guard prospects in the country by all rankings
services.Signed with Maryland and saw very little playing time. Transfered to Marist
and averaged .08 ppg and later left the team. Never played basketball again. Played
for Winston Salem Steelers organization.
All Area – 1st Team
Charnette Davis -Sr.- Thomasville- 5’11” 15.1 ppg -Signed with Chattanoga State
Junior College. Played for Lady Phoenix AAU Team
Kelly Smith-Jr. – Eastern Randolph-5’11” 20 ppg – signed witn West Virginia and
later transfered to East Carolina.Honorable Mention Mcdonald’s All American Nominee
and was in the top 160 players in the country in her class. Three time Randolph
county player of the year. Played in North and South Carolina All Star game as well
as the East-West All Star Game. Played some at ECU. Played for Winston Salem
Steelers Organization
Mekia Valentine-Sr. -Dudley- 6’5 16.6 ppg-Verbal to Wake Forest before ever
attending Dudley while at Greensboro Day. Signed with Wake Forest but was never a
major factor. Later transfered to University of California Santa Barbara. Averaged
5.9 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 1.6 bpg at Wake. Played better at UCSB
and was drafted in the WNBA.
Amber Wall-Sr. 5’10” Eastern Guilford – 19.5 ppg- signed with Elon. Played all four
years before career came to an abrupt ending in December of 2010. Had a career best
of 24 pts in one game. Was one of the teams leading rebounders through out her
career. Played for Greensboro Galaxy and later the Lady Phoenix organization

Paris Best- Jr. Southwest Guilford- 5’11” 17.7 ppg-
Danielle Duncan-Jr. – Ragsdale -5’11” 15.1 ppg- signed with Greensboro College. Has
had a remarkable career as she has lead Greensboro College into the ELITE status
in womens basketball. She has become an All American and have the numbers to back it
up. She still has another year of college basketball. Played AAU Basketball for
Greensboro Galaxy.
Antoinette Mceachen- So-Andrews- 6’0″ 13 ppg:: No data
Emily French- Sr.- Northwest Guilford- 5’8″ 12.5 ppg- Tusculum: Played for Winston
Salem Steelers AAU Team.
Asha Hardaway-Jr. Northwest Guilford-5’9″ 12.5 ppg- signed with Belmiont Abbey. Has
played well the past couple of seasons before injury. Should have another impactful
season this year. Played for Winston Salem Steelers Organization.
All Area -2nd Team
Anna Freeman-Fr.- East Davidson- 5’10” 14 ppg- signed with Appalachian State. Got
overlooked by all the ACC schools because she did not play on the circuit her junior
year. It was APPS gain and their loss because she has out performed just about all
the players they chosed at her position. She has helped APP to become a consistent
winner and her numbers at her position does not have to take a back seat to anyone.
She is having a remarkable career and is having fun doing it.
Jasmine Gill- So.- Page- 14.3 ppg- Signed with ACC Boston College and saw
considerable action. She saw action in all 32 games as a sophomore when she averaged
6.5 ppg with six starts and played in 30 games as a freshmen and average 2.1 ppg.
She has transfered to James Madison and had to sit out the 2010-11 season. Played
for Lady Phoenix AAU Organization
Sierra Little- Jr. Dudley-6’4″ 12.5 ppg- signed with Old Dominion University and
never really produced according to potential ability and reported that there was
some sought of “‘chemistry issue” whatever that may mean. She later transfered to
Gardner Webb and was gone by January of this 2011 season.Right now believe to be not
playing basketball anywhere. Played for Lady Phoenix AAU organization.
Trumae Lucas- So.- Grimsley- 13 ppg- signed with Florida and made the All Rookie
Team her freshmen year. She averaged nearly 6 ppg. Played during sophomore year but
decided to quit the team just before the NCAA Tournaments becgan. Later transfered
to Delaware University where she should be a key factor to go along with Delle Donne
that averaged 26 ppg last season. Delle transfered fron UCON after less that a week
of being on campus. Dell made All American this past season and was the number #1
player in her class in 2009. This should be a good fit. Played for Mid State Magic
AAU Organization.
Allison Spivey-Jr.-Highpoint Central- 18 ppg-signed with East Carolina and finished
at ECU. Had a solid career and did things the right way. Had a career high of 23
pts. Played for Kenny Carter at HPC and lead them to a 19-11 record and Regional
appearance. Played AAU Basktball for Team North Carolina and won the AAU Junior
Olympics.
Wow, this is good information.
It is very important to do great duedillgence when going about deciding on where one wants to spend their collegiate career. Bigger does not always mean better.
This has been happening for a long time. Kids go from being the best in their school and/or area to being just another player. Their pride can’t handle the lack of playing time so either they either transfer or quit entirely. That seems to happen to more than 50% of the kids that play sports in college. However, there are kids that really work at their game and become much better in college.
Parents be aware if someone is asking you for money to get your kid ranked through some ranking service. Let the merit of your child’s ability be the bencemark for whatever is coming to them.
Are there any girls in this area that has commited yet?
Yes! So far Cedrica Gibson has verbal to St.John University. I believe that is the only one thus far.
