Additions to the North Carolina Tar Heel roster include three walk-on players that have made the team Coach Withers said Friday. Wide receiver Luke Heavner(Ragsdale HS/Jamestown, N.C.), fullback Maurice Copeland and wide receiver Nic Platt all made the team following a mid-week on-campus tryout.

Platt is a transfer from William and Mary.

Sophomore defensive back Josh Hunter said that he will transfer. Hunter played in eight games as a redshirt freshman and entered camp as the team’s fourth free safety.

  1. Pretty good achievement that Luke made the team. he was not a preferred walk-on which means they hold a spot for you. he had to tryout and make the team. that’s tough to do. Those tryouts cannot start until the 1st day of classes so you lose being able to practice most of August. Tough to make a public school team as a true walk-on. Lots of competition.

    Luke should also help the team GPA. he’ll be tutoring the whole freshmen class before it’s over.

  2. Spot on comment….Right on the money….Luke is a good one and he will help on the field and in the classroom and he’ll give you all-out effort, no matter where he is called to contribute….
