College Women’s Soccer Final – Guilford 2, Methodist 0

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Sarah Levitt and Katie Oliver scored less than a minute apart to lift Guilford College past host Methodist University Tuesday, 2-0, in a nonconference soccer match. The pair scored in the 81st and 82nd minutes, respectively, off of assists from freshman Sarah Lewis.

The teams played over 80 scoreless minutes in humid and muggy conditions before Levitt scored with a shot to the left side of the cage past Monarchs’ keeper Sara Altman. The Quakers (2-2) added an insurance goal 32 seconds later when Lewis lifted a pass over the Methodist defense, which Oliver knocked into the goal for her first score of the season.

Guilford goalie Amy Baker made three saves for her first shutout of the season. Altman had eight stops for the Monarchs (1-2). Guilford enjoyed a 19-11 edge in shots.

The Quakers visit North Carolina Wesleyan College Friday (9/9) at 5:00 p.m.
