Durham Hillside Hornets over Dudley Panthers last night in a nail-biter from the Durham Herald Sun

from Steve Huffman at the Durham Herald Sun and you’ll see where Richard Hayes led Dudley’s offense with a 3-yard TD run and a 19-yard pass to Anthony Lamb for a touchdown and then Hayes also scored on a two-point conversion run…….

GREENSBORO — Emanual Adjua, who had earlier misfired badly on a pair of extra-point tries, booted a 26-yard field goal with 14 seconds remaining to lift Hillside to a 15-14 win over Greensboro Dudley in Friday night’s football action.

The kick came on fourth-and-1 at the Panther 9-yard line.

“I’m just glad the coaches trusted me,” Adjua said. “It’s a great way to come back.”

The Hornets spotted the Panthers a 14-12 advantage midway through the third quarter, Dudley taking the lead when quarterback Richard Hayes scrambled in for a two-point conversion after connecting on a 19-yard pass scoring pass to Anthony Lamb.

For a long while, it seemed the two-point advantage would stand. Hillside (3-1) had 160 rushing yards in the second half to Dudley’s 34, and also had more passing yardage in the closing periods.

But the Panthers (0-4) made a pair of fourth-down stops in the game’s final minutes and appeared ready to spring an upset.
