  1. Page usually plays their best in the 3rd quarter. If they continue that trend, we’ll probably hear some new names taking control of the game.

  2. I don’t know what it was but my Pirates did not have that “chemistry” nor that gleam in their eyes tonight. I’m glad they came away with the win but Idk. I hope they get it together.

  3. 28-0 shutout and not satisfied? Western usually scores points so take the shutout as a good thing.

Loving that Ragsdale score. Looks like they took that scoreless second half frustration from the Page game out on the Mustangs tonight.

  4. A 28-0 conference win is nothing to sneeze at. Page is 5-0, 1-0 in the conference. They beat Western by 4 TDs.

And every team has an off night. If an off night for Page means a shutout win by 28 points, I’ll take it.

  5. Ahhhhhhhhchew!!! Excuse me. Glad Page is keeping the record going since their first loss will be at Grimsley. 🙂

  6. as much as i want grimsley to win… i dont think they will anymore games this year.. especially against page.. hate to admit it but i am facing the facts ahead of time

  7. GFan, what…are you drunk-posting? Doing comedy? Hitting the corn squeezins that you Swirly fans love so much

  8. Judging by some of the comments, I guess you guys thought I was referring to the score. Actually, I wasn’t. What I was referring to was the way the guys interacted from the pre-game meal up to the end of the game. Like I’ve stated in the past, the guys have got to maintain a certain chemistry off the field for them to be able to “mesh” on it.

All in all, I’m glad my Pirates came away with the win. I’m also glad they have a bye next week. Maybe they can regroup and find that chemistry that I’m used to seeing. Another thing–I was glad to see the 2nd string get a bunch of pt tonight. Page could’ve put this game out of reach early on (didn’t I see Mount Tabor’s score of 80? That’s a basketball score!!) but they didn’t.

Still and always will be down with my Pirates!

  9. Gfan–

I PROMISE. we’re going to sit together during the Page/Grimsley game. People will think we’re NUTS but I got a feeling we are going to have a ball!

Anywho–every time Page scores, I’m going to hand you a M&M (Peanut) Just to let you know, I’m going to buy the 56 oz. bag from Sam’s Club so get ready to be eating a LOT of peanuts! Lol!!!

See you in a couple of weeks!

  10. UU, the Pirates can use a weekend off. They have played two teams that have made it to the state finals (the runner up and the champs), plus two more teams that are solid to very good. They’ve not let any team come close, and they did that again last night. It’s only natural to have a letdown, especially after a big emotional win over Ragsdale (by the way, my Ragsdale counterpart Mark has been VERY quiet about that game, especially after all the trash-talking from last year…hey Mark, you DID hear about that game, didn’tyou??? You know what they say about paybacks don’t you?)

Page will have a chance to regroup this weekend. Coach Gillespie expressed his disappointment in the Pirates’ second half performance last night. They will come out with their batteries charged on September 30. And that’s going to be bad news for the Swirlys, no matter how often that 300 pound kid lurches up and down the field.

I hope GFan has sobered up this morning.

  11. UU I love peanut M&Ms. John it is funny you mention Reader. He caught a pass last night and almost ran it in for a TD. That kid is amazing. I’m surprised his is not refilling the gatoraid jugs at halftime since they rely on him for everything. A SEG kid got an interception last night and you could see it coming like slow motion. DJ ran him down on the sideline and absolutely laid him out. Got to give it to the kid for not slowing down to avoid the collision but he really paid a price for it.

  12. I’ve read previous posts about DJ Reader playing out of position. I think I have to agree. He’s a big strong kid, but he needs a little bit more speed to be effective running the ball. I

  13. Poor John. Bless your heart. You know the need for constant positive reinforcement is the sign of immaturity or at the very least a sign of low self esteem. Lots of good counselors can be found in the Yellow Pages. Good luck with that.

I posted at least three different times last week about how good Page played in the second half and how tough their defense was. There – does that make you feel a little better?

So was it four or five years worth of payback Page had stored up? It has been so long I lost count…

  14. I just noticed that some of post somehow didn’t show up…………….I was told there were at least scouts in attendance at the Grimsley/SEG ball game to look at DJ Reader. It was good opportunity for some kids to get a look that maybe weren’t on these teams radar.

  15. Page forced 6 turnovers in the first half and scored 28 points before halftime. Summers ran one for a TD, and passed one to Brian Spain Jr. for a TD. Rogers ran the other 2. The 2nd string guys played all of the 2nd half on offense.

I didn’t go to the game, as I was down in Fayetteville with Chris Hughes at the Byrd/Grey’s Creek and Westover/S. Lee game.

From what I was hearing the 2nd string guys got a lot of good game experience, but could have played a good bit better. That aside, the Pirates defense played well all night and shutout Western Guilford, who have usually put up 14+ points a game so far this year.

Page has a bye week this Friday and wanted to get into it without any injuries and wanted to rest the starters early on Friday, also WR Orlando Hatfield didn’t play last night. The score would have probably been at least doubled in the 2nd half with Summers and co. playing. All in all, a shutout in conference play is great, and there was no need to run up the score on a now 0-5 WG.

Time for a week of rest and preparation for one of the biggest rivalries in the state as the Page Pirates host the Grimsley Whirlies.

  16. Joe, I was at the game last night and the first string played through the 3rd quarter – with no score in the second half. They too could have played a bit better. So I don’t know about the doubling the score comment. But in any case Page won and that is what counts.

  17. I am a Page parent and fan. But I get what some people think about Page after sitting in the stands. A group of grown ups yell at the referees for the entire game – and even make fun of the kids on the opposing team – when they are down 28-0 I might add. Truly an embarrasment for our side of the field. It is a shame grown people actually act this way. We should set a good example for our kids. In a tight situation game where calls are super important – this might influence someone in my mind.

  18. @ PPP

Every school in the state has some fans like these.. nothing new or original to Page. That’s just how some fans are at HS football games.

  19. @ Joe Barile don’t use the excuse that everybody does it, so that makes it alright. That group is loud and obnoxious. But worse, they don’t seem to know much about the game of football. I’m glad they are having a good time, but their antics at times go overboard.

  20. Not an excuse nor was I saying that it was alright, but just a fact.

Most of the guys up there are, that I think you guys are talking about are good guys and have been coming to Page games for 30-35+ years. I agree that a couple of them are annoying and obnoxious though.
