EMORY, Va. – Emory & Henry College’s Erica Merriman scored in the 62nd minute to help the Wasps gain a 1-1 draw with Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) rival Guilford College Wednesday.

The Quakers (5-2-2, 0-0-2 ODAC) opened the scoring midway through the first half when Jaclyn Nucci headed in a corner kick by senior Bri Eilman. Guilford forced the play in the offensive zone and enjoyed a 22-7 edge in shots, but the Wasps’ goalie tandem of Hayley Poland and Sarah Jerome combined for 11 saves. Moments after scoring her first Guilford goal, Nucci put a shot off the crossbar. In the 80th minute teammate, Sarah Levitt had a shot cleared off the back line by an Emory & Henry (4-2-1, 0-1-1 ODAC) defender.

Guilford goalie Amy Baker made three saves in goal.

The Quakers host league-rival Sweet Briar College Saturday (9/24) at 2:00 p.m. and Averett University Sunday (9/25) at 2:00 p.m.
