The top runner in the state is one of the best in the nation

Langston Wertz Jr. at the Charlotte Observer, has this info on Troy Leeper Jr., at Belmont’s South Point High School…..

A 5-foot-11, 200-pound senior, Troy Leeper rushed for a career-high 285 yards against Kings Mountain last week. For the season, he has 1,085 yards and 17 touchdowns. The yardage leads all Carolinas’ running backs and ranks No. 7 in the country, according to the national high school stats website MaxPreps.

  1. If you look at Leeper’s numbers, he should be right there in the top 10. However, no one appears to have submitted his stats officially to MaxPreps; therefore, he does not appear on their list of stat leaders. MaxPreps doesn’t even have a page for Troy Leeper for the 2011-2012 year and his page for 2010-2010 only has around 282 of the approximate 1350 yds he had last year. As a Red Raider fan, I am disappointed that no one on the South Point staff has taken the time to enter in his stats, given that Leeper has been and continues to be the team’s workhorse.
